CREATING A PROTOTYPE OF AN INTERACTIVE LEARNING GAME IN MOLECULAR AND CELL BIOLOGY

At the beginning of medical studies at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), students’ knowledge and skills differ widely. In first semester, students must take a course, “Molecular Cell Biology.” many cases, problems in abilities to absorb new information this new, specific nature are evident. The reason for is insufficient prior preparation. On average, 3-4 % failed course each academic year. After focus group discussions interviews with colleagues leading specialists technologies, we concluded need create an interactive pedagogically correct tool improving students` competence molecular cell biology; one such could be learning game. This article describes process creating game prototype cellular biology. With help selected RSU students, was created. involvement proved beneficial them (improving understanding topics) us (clarifying preferences game’s design).The tested target (1st-semester from Medicine Dentistry faculties RSU). Initial feedback teachers certifies that example opportunity provide desired, low-stress self-paced resource.
